Well, people, it's currently freezing cold and snowing in England, so what better night for an art dump, eh?? This is my part of a LONG overdue art trade with the fabulous *PinkPoodle543 - her Standard Poodle character, Ellie. I love her! I mean, damn. She has some fabulous pink going on there, and the back leg markings are frigging boss. This is my first attempt at drawing a real Standard and I wanted to nail everything - facial quirks like correct eye shaping, the right size nose, and I DID want to include her paws but I ran out of room. XD I'm having a lot of technical difficulties when it comes to porportions just lately. I really hope you like it! I forgot her ear bows right up until this was like, 50% coloured and quickly had to sketch them in, lol - I'm no good with bows and ribbons and things like that. I really like this character! So fun to draw. Ellie is copyright to , art is copyright ti me, .
I know, right? She has an awesome design for sure! Thank you so much! I'm not used to drawing the more sort of ... fragile, delicate dog breeds, so the fact that she's a poodle was pretty interesting, you know?
It's a shame poodles are trimmed in such a way that they look ridiculous. I much prefer the puppy cut but I guess they'll always look floofy and silly. I do love Standards though. I've heard such good things about their temperaments.
I know. To me, poodles look great as they are, so I don't understand the need for making them look silly, lol. I do like the puppy cut, though! It's very cute. And yeah - most poodles I've been around are always so well behaved.
They rationalize the cut, but no show-cut poodle (well, it's something different in the UK, but whatever) will ever work a day in its life. WORKING poodles are not cut like that because it is time-consuming and impractical. Not that poodles work these days. XD Few dogs are used for that anymore. Still. It's probably faster and cheaper to do the puppy cut anyway.
Lovely! She's so cute here, and fluffy~ She looks like she'd be great to hug on a cold night like you're having, lol. Especially loving the face and tail here. And fabulous shading, doll.
LOL! I know, right?? I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that! ;_; And thank-you so much for all the sweet things you said, doll -they mean a lot.
I think you did great with their facial structure! Theirs is kinda unique, and you got it!
Lol, don'cha hate running out of room at the feet?
